so, as i was flipping through the fall edition of texas music mag recently (great job guys!), i was so excited to find the lost highway records ad accompanied by the "t is for texas" sampler. lost highway records is a label out of nashville (and believe me, i know we're all skeptical about nashville), but these guys truly know good music. never in my life have i seen a record label with such exquisite taste.
i mean, seriously, they represent a truly stellar, phenomenal lineup - RYAN ADAMS, RYAN BINGHAM, HAYES CARLL, JOHNNY CASH, ELVIS COSTELLO, ROBERT EARL KEEN, BLACK JOE LEWIS, LYLE LOVETT, SHELBY LYNNE, VAN MORRISON, MORRISSEY, WILLIE NELSON, O BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU?, LUCINDA WILLIAMS, HANK WILLIAMS. so really, if shannan d'aun sowder was ever a record label, this is it. please visit lost highway records for more information.
here's the best part, i'm now going to be doing some work for lost highway. not quitting my job-packing up- moving out to tennessee kind of work (although that's not a terrible idea), but i'm going to be doing some grass roots, promo type stuff and i'm thrilled!!!!!!!!!!!!
my first big assignment is the ryan bingham show out at whitewater amphitheater on october 29, so you should all be there. RYAN BINGHAM IS BREATHTAKINGLY, UNBELIEVABLY AMAZING. the dead horses are great too. check him out!
i also want to hi-light some other lost highway artists - MR. ROBERT EARL KEEN. GO BUY "THE ROSE HOTEL!" IT'S FANTASTIC AND CLASSIC REK.
and if you haven't heard the "WAITING ON THE STARS TO FALL" single by HAYES CARLL...listen to it. it might make you cry, but it's gut-wrenching, tragic beauty. never heard a hayes tune like this, almost didn't believe it was him.
long live good music.
